Situated on the charming Via Masuccio Salernitano in Salerno, Piatto di Vino is a true gem for lovers of Mediterranean cuisine seeking an authentic Italian dining experience. This cozy and intimate restaurant invites you into a warm, rustic setting where traditional flavors burst with every bite, making it a standout destination on the Amalfi Coast.
The menu showcases the vibrant, fresh, and diverse character of Mediterranean cooking, with an emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients and classic recipes. Guests rave about the eggplant parmigiana, a comforting dish layered with rich tomato sauce and gooey melted cheese that melts in your mouth. The bruschetta earth is another favorite, delivering a delightful crunch atop a bed of flavorsome toppings that awaken the palate. Pasta aficionados will find pure joy here — from the perfectly cooked zucchini pasta to dishes featuring delicately tender octopus paired with sauces that enhance their freshness without overpowering.
What truly elevates the experience at Piatto di Vino is the atmosphere: a small open kitchen buzzes quietly as meals are lovingly prepared, outdoor tables nestled along a quaint street create an inviting ambiance, and the genuine friendliness of the owners makes every guest feel personally cared for. One memorable touch is the presence of an elderly gentleman, often serenading diners with traditional songs, which adds an enchanting layer of Italian culture to your meal.
Wine lovers will appreciate the carefully curated local red wines, each glass offering a taste of the region’s terroir and perfectly complementing the meal. Notably, the value here stands out — the pricing is fair, especially in contrast to less authentic experiences found elsewhere in Italy’s tourist-heavy areas.
Customer experiences resonate with warmth and praise: Dennis Froese described it as the highlight of their Italian road trip, emphasizing the unforgettable food and atmosphere. Rita Pereira called their pasta the best on the Amalfi Coast, and Hannah Layland was impressed by the attentive service and thoughtful vegan options. Lucie Bertiau’s return visit after the first delicious evening speaks volumes, while Jennifer Redeker highlights the vibrant ceramic plates and excellent service, even for English speakers.
For anyone passing through Salerno or fortunate enough to call this enchanting coastal city home, Piatto di Vino offers a culinary journey that feels both genuine and delightfully fresh. Whether it’s a casual meal or a special night out, the combination of heartfelt hospitality, authentic flavors, and a cozy environment will leave a lasting impression.

Seriously, the best food and atmosphere of our entire Italian road trip!! Everything was amazing…but I would especially suggest enjoying the bruschetta earth and the eggplant parmigiana. The red wine was from the local area and was unforgettable as well. Such a breath of fresh air after being ripped off so many times further north! Buon appetito!!

Piatto di Vino was the restaurant where we had the best pasta on the Amalfi Coast. It’s a very authentic Italian restaurant in a cozy corner of a traditional street. If you’re in Salerno, or lucky enough to live here, I highly recommend trying one of their pastas.

This was by far our best dinner experience in Italy. We were just walking by and found the setting super cute so we decided to have dinner there without checking the reviews. The place is tucked away in a small street with a few tables outside and an open kitchen. Feels very authentic. We ordered the eggplant parmigiana and the zucchini pasta, it was full of flavours, so delicious that we came back the next day. The owners are so lovely and hard working people, 10/10 experience.
